Hi friends! This is my very first post and boy, am I nervous! I thought that I would kick off the next holiday, Valentine's Day, by sharing my framed paper rose art project. This shadowbox was found at the dollar store and yes, it was $1! I cut 3/4" by 8" strips of patterned paper, 7 strips for each rose. I used a wooden kabob stick to roll each strip, then gently unrolled them, glued at the ends and pulled the centers up slightly for dimension. I distressed and sponged the tops of each rose for additional texture, then used a strong mounting glue to adhere them to the background. I added some Heidi Swapp flourishes in black to finish. This paper rose technique is also great for making a romantic Valentine topiary or wreath too!

I really like this. I love how you think. I am unemployed (temporarily, I hope) and on a budget yet am inspired to create beauty anyway.
