Transform It Tuesday!

Hey y'all, happy Tuesday! I've been super inspired by all you crafty peeps out there SO much! I've been addicting to YouTube as of late--with all the fabby tips, tutorials and techniques they have, I now have a long list of new things I intend to try. And today I did! I made my own flowers from ribbon-- and I think they're just nifty! I used the Shabby Chic Old English Rosh Tutorial by jennings644--what a talented gal she is! Here is one I made and put on an altered Mason jar. Just the white one, the pink center rose is a lovely store bought prima. I used a 1 1/2"white grosgrain for this one, and I've also done 2 more so far with 1 1/2"" satin ribbon too and they are totally different looking but equally appealing. So,  I'm excited about my flowers because they are easy and I luvs easy! And they look so neat and unique--each one is a true one of a kind, which I just think is super cool!
To make a more "shabby" style flower, lightly work the flame over each petal, not just around the outside of it. As the heat hits areas throughout the petal, wonderful things start to happen making the petals look more real. You get the hang of it all you play around ;)

How-to make the jar
-paint 2 coats of pink, including rim; let dry.
-apply floral design with homemade texture paste and stencil, let dry. Paint them, let dry.
-use light sand paper over raised parts of jar, including the raised glass text and images.
-paint 2 coats of black; let dry.
-sandpaper raised areas again for a more worn and texturized look.
-stamp a sentiment directly onto a scrap of white grosgrain ribbon cut like a banner shape.
paint pink around ribbon banner sentiment to grunge it up a bit more.
-add 2 black mini brads to either side of ribbon banner.
-secure banner with 2 dots of super/hot glue at the back of each brad. Let dry.
-brush mod podge around edges of ribbon banner to make it more stiff and secure.
-secure pink/white gingham bow to corner of ribbon banner with dot of hot glue.
-secure homemade ribbon flower (tutorial link above) in place with hot glue gun, slipped in a bit of white sprig and pearl pin, then let dry completely.

Here's some pics of the 2 other flowers I made from the satin ribbon, a wonderful gift sent to me long ago from my friend and a very talented artist, Stacy (aka: Twinshappy). Thanks Stacy, I finally used it! JAM Paper & Envelope also has a gorgeous satin ribbon line with 3 different width choices and an array of beautiful colors--endless satin ribbon flower making!! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on some soon!

I've hoarded this satin ribbon for years and today I think it was worth the wait. Notice the purple flower is more smooth looking, not so much like a rose--that was my first one and I only singed around the petal edges.
On the green one, I used the flamed on the entire piece of fabric, moving it randomly around to form the petal and make it look more shabby-chic, like in the tutorial. Aren't they pretty! I want to make like a hundred more lol!

Ok that's all for me! Maybe you will be inspired to make some homemade ribbon flowers too! I hope so, and if you do LET ME KNOW! I would love to see what you make! Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great one my friends!
