Mason Jar Lantern Vases

Hello friends and happy Friday! I'm excited to be sharing my first DT project for Really Reasonable Ribbon Ramblings blog with you just in time for the warmer months ahead--easy altered mason jars! I love to do things with mason jars. They are inexpensive and can be used for everyday life and special occasions alike, not to mention for canning my preserves (can't wait for my blackberry bush to bloom this summer!) For these, I adorned each jar with beautiful May Arts Pink Crochet Lace and Ivory Burlap String from Really Reasonable Ribbon to transform them into pretty country style vases and candle lanterns. This entire project costs less than $5 to make (lace/string 2.98; jars .59 ea; embellish with stuff from your stash). I don't know about you, but I can't find very many things I want to decorate my home with for under $5 so this is pretty cool :)
Just think of all the ways you could alter a mason jar...
- lovely table centerpieces for a rustic wedding theme
- hang them from trees and light with candles for outdoor evening ambiance
- add sand/shells/candle to the base and you have the makings for beach wedding décor
- how about decorating jars with the graduates school colors, fill with fun party favors or treats and set in the center of tables at an outdoor graduation party
-or birthday party
-4th of July barbeque
-combine various sizes and shapes like I did
-or decorate just one and simply drop a tealight candle in the base for a bit of country charm anywhere in your home. The list is endless!
.
Tie a metal charm to a stick pink with twine
Paint wooden butterflies and add pearls to the centers; or any wood, chipboard shape from SaCrafters
Decorate a fancy stick pin with buttons, lace/ribbon trim and twine

What do you think? I hope you are inspired to alter a mason jar with pretty lace, ribbon or trim too! I think you will really enjoy it and have a pretty decoration to give as a gift or keep for yourself! Thank you for allowing me to share my project with you today! Have a creative and blessed day!
