Ingredients:
1 apple
1 orange
4-5 whole cinnamon sticks
sprinkle of cloves or 1 tsp. whole cloves if you have it (nutmeg may be used as well)
Instructions:
Dry fruit slices in oven at 250 for about 3 hours if you don't have a dehydrator. I don't and this turned out just fine. Start checking on fruit at about 2 1/2 hours to make sure it's not burning. Let it cool before packaging into bags. I think I'll add a little note for the recipient explaining how to use it. To fill your home with delicious holiday scent, simmer in 2-3 cups water on stove top in small pot. Add more water as it gets low).
This amount filled 2 nice sized, tall plastic bags, which I decorated with a little stamped tag, fabric bow and a bit of faux winter foliage.
I especially love sharing ideas like this...ones that are very inexpensive or even free and so simple to make. I don't like throwing away things when I can use them for something else. So it was a real pleasure to turn this otherwise wasted fruit into a charming little gift for friends or neighbors! I hope you enjoyed it too! Wishing you a very creative and blessed day!!!
