Let The Wind Carry You

Hey friends and happy weekend! For those of you on or near the East Coast, please stay safe! My thoughts and prayers are with you all! As for us here in the Great Northwest, it's nothing more than a whole lot of rain-rain-rain. And just for good measure, more rain. But no need to fret because what that means for me is more crafty time sitting by a warm fire with a hot cuppa tea, cider or cocoa. Yes please. And today I have some neat news to share--I've been chosen to work with a great company called Canvas Corp. Brands for all of 2016 and I couldn't be more thrilled! This company sells Canvas Home Basics, Tattered Angels and 7 Gypsies and focuses on products that are geared toward the mixed media artist, home decorator and DIYer as well as anybody who wants to try working with fun things like fabric aprons, stretched canvas, wood shadowboxes, burlap and a whole lot more!
I will be designing and working on a specific team that I've yet to be informed of, so for now I've made a little project with the 4x4" stretched natural canvas that Canvas Corp Brands (CCB) sent to all the designers.  As I smeared shades of blue and purple onto the Gesso-prepped canvas with Gelatos, I felt the cool, wintery colors were just right for mood.  I added texture with cheesecloth, a couple of paper doilies sponged in gold and Deco Art Snow Tex. I used my wonderful new stamp set from Jamie Dougherty's Bloom collection (sold by Prima Marketing) called "Birds" for the sentiment along the right side--first stamped onto tissue paper, then adhered to the canvas with Gel Medium. The create typo bulb is from Prima's Junkyard Trinkets and the vintage whitewash lock is from Prima's Shabby Chic Treasures. The flowers are a mixture of Prima and Wild Orchid and the little metal bird and flower were plucked from my stash. I also added a bit of Glass Bead Glitter Gel and sprinkled chunky ivory glitter atop it before it dried to give the effect of ice and snow. All in all, I like how this little number turned out and I thoroughly enjoyed the creative process.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a GREAT rest of the weekend! :)

Linsey this is gorgeous hon! Love the colors and all that texture. Congratulations on your new DT position! Looking forward to seeing what you create with Canvas Corp!
I am on the NJ coast and we got hit hard here. Our entire city has been under water all weekend and we have one last high tide to survive this morning. It should be coming in around 7:30am but I believe we should be fine. This is not going to be half as bad as the first two were. I managed to keep my power on through the storm and the water did not come into the home, by the grace of God. God is GREAT! He provided for us and kept us safe... because truth be told, it is very BAD here. I live in Margate City so if you have seen any news coverage on the storm then you probably have seen our city completely submerged in water. Prayers will be greatly appreciated for getting through this next high tide and for all the homes and businesses here that have flood damage.
Hugs,
Jo
