Life In Color Altered Shaker Clock

Hey friends and happy weekend! I hope you are having a great one so far! I was recently blessed with winning one of the brand new, yet to be released paper collections from Simple Stories called Life In Color and when it arrived this week, I simply could not keep my hands off it! It's SO fabulous--bright, bold and beautiful! I wanted to make something with it right away and also share my gratitude to companies like Simple Stories for being so generous and having awesome giveaways like this! I used some of this smashing new collection, like the paper from the 12x12 collection kit and also some of the wood veneer that they sent me and it was SO much fun! I've had an crystal clock for years that I've never really cared for so instead of throwing it away, I decided to give it a new life--a life in color!
I'm adding my clock to this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #20- Time Flies. Although it's definitely not as mixed-media-y as I usually get, I think that it still fits the bill since I altered the clock with paint and added a variety of different elements like glittered chipboard and sequins. If for some reason it doesn't qualify, I totally understand. I was sort of on the fence about whether or not it's truly mixed media. :)
I could kick myself for not taking before photos of the clock! Ugh. It's always cooler to see the transformation of an altered piece and I'm so sorry that I forgot. Suffice it to say, my little clock is very happy with her makeover! This project was so much fun! First thing I did was paint the outside of the clock...light pink....then metallic grey...finally, it ended up being this sky blue spray paint from Krylon. the circle frame, chipboard paper clip and metal base of the light bulb were painted in gold with Viva 3D Stamp Paint. If you happened to notice, the inside of the clock face has been turned into a shaker with yummy sequins from Verve and Doodlebug that coordinate great with this So Much Happiness 12x12 patterned paper--so I guess that makes this a shaker clock--see, told ya it was fun, hehe!
The Life In Color Fundamentals Cardstock Stickers from Simple Stories are nice and sturdy, so they make for really great embellishments.  I played around with arranging everything and inked all edges in chalky white ink, then popped some of the stickers with 3D dots. Along with the stickers, I added a wee bit of cheesecloth, the gold arrow, domino and glass light bulb from my own stash to the front of the clock in a sort of messy layers until I was satisfied.
Thanks so much for coming by today! I hope your day is filled with only good stuff!

I love how bright and cheerful your clock is! The sequins inside is an especially nice touch. Thanks for sharing it with us at Mixed Media Monthly. Be sure to check in tomorrow to see the new challenge for February. ;-)
