Shabby Chic & Floral Birdcage Album

Hi friends and happy Saturday! Today I altered a Maya Road chipboard album shaped like a birdcage. I have a bunch of naked chipboard albums that I've yet to tackle but I'm hopeful that I will because I had a lot of fun putting this together! I'm entering my birdcage album into the current Frilly and Funky Challenge titled Layer It Up! My dear friend Kathy is on their design team and it was her gorgeous card, along with the rest of this amazing DT's creations that inspired me so much to join in! I'm also adding it to this week's SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge- Inspired By A Song. My piece was inspired by the song "Born To Fly" by country singer Sara Evans. I especially love the lyrics from this song that goes ..."I will plant my heart in the garden of my dreams and I will grow it where I want it, wild and free."  I don't know about the wild part, but I do love the free part and that my heart is planted in the garden of the Lord and He is growing it in love and watering it with truth. Yes, God has this girls heart and is holding it close! I believe our true destiny lies not in this world or in our earth-bound bodies, but in a much greater existence and future. All of Gods children were indeed born to fly and one day, we will be flying on the wings of forever! Thank you, Jesus!
I have been itching to make something with purple flowers and this was a perfect opportunity to do so.  Also, I was able to use a few wood veneer embellishments that I rarely remember I have and also some very old patterned paper that I've had for so many years, it may actually be vintage! I painted the chipboard and wood veneer pieces with 2 coats of Gesso, then added some DecoArt Snow Tex to them for texture and interest. I like how it turned out. Because of the flowers and Spring-like feel to the piece, it doesn't remind me of snow, just a neat, sort of stucco-like texture.
I also love these pretty little tassels from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection. They come in a 6 pack with 3 of this soft teal color and 3 in a coral color.  So cute :)
I found the perfect sentiment for the front in my TCP stamp set called Take Flight. A very good reminder of our true destiny.
And thanks so very much for taking time out of your day to visit me!!! Wishing you an always creative and very blessed day!!!

What a wonderful project on so many levels! It's gorgeous, of course, but it also has such a great feeling of hope and happiness! I love the colors and how they are bursting with the promise of Spring. The quote you chose goes along so perfectly and I loved what you had to say in your post, too. What a great song to pay homage to and you did it beautifully! I still have snow in my yard, so I may just have to come back and stare at this until we have flowers of our own! Lovely work here and I'm so glad you shared your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
