Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #44-Ring In The New Year

Hello friends and Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! I'm super excited to begin a fresh, new year and have the best 2018! If you like mixed media art, then now is a great time to join in the very first challenge of the year at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog! Appropriately, the theme this month is MMMC#44-"Ring In The New Year"! We have an inspiring photo for you to draw from, as well as our design teams projects to get your artistic juices flowing!
There is also an awesome prize to be won this month! 1 random winner will be drawn from all the entries so I sure hope you'll join in the fun and add your beautiful creation to our gallery! We love to see your artwork! Here's what I came up with for this months challenge...
Believe it or not, this was originally a plastic bell-shaped cookie sprinkler to put your candy sprinkles in. I never used it for that and when I saw the photo for the challenge, I instantly knew I wanted to use this bell! I first covered it in a thick layer of white gesso, then I went to town with my inks, sprays, glitter and mica flakes to create the shimmering, icy surface your see on my bell. I actually really like how it turned out. Here's a close up of all the texture and shimmery goodness...
I added a White Bead Berry Spray Cluster and 2 WOC Silver Spiral Stamens and tied a piece of 3/8"Blue Topaz Satin with Silver Metallic Edges into a bow around the handle. Finally, I added a happy new year sticker to the front, and done! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you'll be inspired to create something for our MMMC#44-Ring In The New Year challenge, too! Happy 2018, one and all!
