Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #45-Love

Hi friends and happy February 1st! It's time for a brand new challenge at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog and this month's theme is all about L.O.V.E. We want to see your beautiful mixed media projects that give us all the heart eyes!
Our awesome sponsor for this month's challenge is TopFlight Stamps! 1 lucky random participant who follows the rules will win a $25 gift certificate! That's totally worth joining in!!
And here's a bit of inspiration for you to draw from, if is suits you ;)
I was completely inspired to make this by a project I found on Pinterest here. First, I tore a bunch of patterned paper and glued it down, then I painted over the top part of the canvas with a water-washed light blue acrylic paint and for the bottom, a light green. I then drew a rough outline of my tree with a pencil and used a lot of eraser. I'm not a drawing artist, so I found this to be pretty rewarding when the tree actually turned out ok! If you're apprehensive about free-hand drawing like I am, I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and give it a try--you just might surprise yourself! :)
I filled in my tree outline with 2 different shades of brown paint, then added a bit of white ink a top the dried brown to create a more realistic bark effect. The "heart-leaves" were die cut and punched out on bits of patterned paper scraps, then glued all over the tree, with a few falling and a few more on the ground. I added a bit more interest to the background with stamps and washi tape, then I outlined the entire tree and all the heart leaves with a fine black pen. The sentiment is just some letter stickers I had on hand. My favorite part is the little red heart with T+L carved into the tree...that's me and my hubby, hehe! Adds a cute touch. :) I hope you like it! And I sure hope to see your mixed media creation inspired by Love this month in our MMMC-#45 gallery! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!

Linsey, I can certainly see how you were inspired by the pinterest offering. What a gorgeous take on that! Congratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone! The results (your tree) are fabulous, and hopefully you will continue to step in that direction. The carved initials in the heart is a sweet touch! Love this whimsical design! Hugs!

Love this! My sister in law has been asking me to create something with hearts on a tree because of a card I created a while back but I've struggled to upscale that. Thank you Linsey - I now know how to do that because of your wonderful canvas inspiration at MMM xx
