Really Reasonable Ribbon January Blog Hop

Hi friends and happy Saturday to you! Today is the 13th of the month and that means it's time for our January RRR Blog Hop! If you're already hopping, you should be arriving here from CHERRY'S blog! If not, why not head over the RRR blog for details on how to hop and win!
The January Ribbon Club Assortment-Valentine Mix is up for grabs to 1 lucky random blog hopper and this is definitely one you'll want to add to your ribbon collection! It's perfect for upcoming Valentine's Day, of course, but also for other fun occasions like anniversary, child's birthday, friendship, wedding and for all the pink lovers in your life!  I love it and I know you will to!
I made mixed media canvas art to inspire you with, an idea I've been wanting to do for a while now. This month's ribbon assortment was just right for it, too! I really like the texture the ribbon and lace trims bring to the piece.
The process of making this canvas was really fun. For the background, I started by tearing some pretty pattern papers and arranging them, then adhering it all down with a generous layer of Mod Podge. Next, I add a layer of white wash gesso, some pink an teal spray inks and black splatters. Finally, I added a few black rub-on words and miniature butterflies.
For the big heart, I first drew a template, then retraced it onto a piece of sturdy white cardstock and cut it out. Next, I cut a variety of ribbons and trims from the January Ribbon Assortment (I used all except the 2 grosgrains with hearts on them) and a bit of washi tape to break it up. Then I arranged them horizontally atop the heart base and adhered them down first with heat-n-bond, then added a light layer of Mod Podge to really secure it down and protect the ribbons integrity. Of course, a heavier layer of Mod Podge was put on the backside of the heart, then laid in place and allowed to set and dry. Lastly, I added a piece of black hemp cord around the entire heart to make it pop, as well as a couple smaller die cut hearts with the same cord and tied on tiny bows to make the hearts appear to be "hanging". I also added the "be mine" chipboard sentiment and a couple other smaller chipboard pieces for balance.
And that's all for me! I hope you've been inspired by my project today! Your next stop on the hop is SHEILA'S blog! Thank you so much for visiting and hopping! Good luck on winning this gorgeous ribbon assortment and happy crafting!
