The Keeper Of My Heart

Hey there creative peeps! Hope your weekend is off to great start! Today I'm sharing something new and a bit different--an altered resin heart from the Relics & Artifacts line. If you haven't heard of Sandra Evertson yet, I highly recommend visiting her website and seeing what she's all about. Her designs are awe-inspiring and so very unique--it's not hard transforming them into something beautiful! Prima Marketing has picked up her Relics & Artifacts line and it's fast becoming one of my most favorite collections to create with! This piece was made especially for the current Heart Of Glass Challenge going on over at the Relics & Artifacts Tribe page on Facebook. I'm also adding it to this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #25-Second Anniversary collection. I combined challenges #18, 19, 21 and 23 for the MMMC!
I call this "The Keeper Of My Heart"....
I started with a bare resin heart from Rising Spirit III and covered it with scented embossing powder in Cherries Jubilee--and yes, it smells like cherries now, hehe! Next, I put a bit of Mod Podge around the entire heart edge, then dipped it in Gold Rush crushed glass glitter, then let dry. Next the fun part, decorating the heart! I used Prima products on this whole thing because, hey, Prima and me go together like ketchup and mustard! :D The black wooden filigree-like circle is from Epiphany Wood Icons and inset a string of bling around the inside of the circle, then topped it off with a metal keyhole embellishment from Junkyard Findings-Key Holes. Then I glued 2 strands of bling in a sweeping fashion around the front/side of the heart and added a golden metal key from A Victorian Christmas Chipboard and More. I then added a bit of gold glittered tulle to the side of the heart and black glass micro-beadz around the entire heart as well. To finish, I attached a few rusted jump rings to a glass bubble with love sentiment underneath and a little butterfly charm from Vintage Trinkets to the bottom and another antique-style glass charm to the top. Done! Here's a close-up of the sparkly yumminess.......
Are you inspired to try your hand at creating something with the awesome Relics & Artifacts line yet? I sure hope so! I would LOVE to see what you come up with!!! You can join the Heart Of Glass Challenge on FB until June 21, so there's plenty of time to play! Or how about joining in the MMMC this month?! Or how about both!! :) Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I hope your day is filled with love, joy, and creativity!!! xoxo
