Born To Fly Altered Altoid Tin

Hello there and happy Monday to you! I hope you had a lovely weekend and are ready for beautiful things to transpire throughout another fabulous week! Even though the weather is anything but cheerful here in the NW today, that's okay, because God still shines brightly in my daily life and His is the only light I really ever need! Yay! Anyway, since it's rather chilly and dreary outside, I spent the morning altering this little altoid-sized metal tin in a sort of grungy mixed media style. I made it for the current Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #24-Butterflies and Blooms.
I also made this for the Let's Get Inky Challenge at Scrapbook.com. Since the latter challenge is being sponsored by Ranger, I chose a variety of my Ranger inks and distress sprays to color my tin and then embellished it with Prima goodies. I had so much fun making this one! Hope you like it too!
I love the new Relics and Artifacts from Sandra Evertson--if you haven't tried them, I highly recommend it because they are loads of fun and really spark your creativity. Today I used 2 of the little resin pieces from her line as the focal points of my altered tin. As God's children, I believe that we really were born to fly and that is my inspiration behind this miniature piece.  Here's a few close-ups...
I first painted the tin with 2 coats of Gesso, then spritzed different Distress Inks all over in pink, yellow and teal. I added butterfly wings to the little person as well as a tiny pin and I embellished the rest of the inside with Prima wood veneer pieces, metal filigree trinkets, crystals, flowers and bits of crocheted lace, doily and cheesecloth. Finally, I added this stamped sentiment from TCP (a fave) with Jet Black and added a Maggie Holmes salmon colored tassel to the top, then rubbed white texture paste all over the tin for a yummy-grungy look and feel. :)
and a last one of the backside just because it's cool, hehe!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you've been inspired to make something fun!

OH my gosh Linsey this is fantastic! So beautiful! I have a ton of these altoid tins in my craft studio as I saved them thinking I would do something to them later. This truly inspires me to create something with them now! Really enjoyed this! Thanks!
