Oui! J'adore Paris!

Bonjour, mon amie's!! Translation, if my HS French isn't completely rusty....hello, my friends!!! Today I have a special piece to share which I'm calling, J'adore Paris! Because I do!! I has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to experience the magic and wonder of Paris with my Mom. Perhaps one day it will happen. Until then, I continue to daydream about such worldly adventures. This is another mixed media piece from the R&A collection by Sandra Evertson--a resin heart colored with Gelatos, then altered to reflect my long-time love for all things French!

I started by painting the heart with a layer of Gesso. Then I started laying down layers of color with my Gelatos, allowing each color to dry before adding the next. I only used 2 colors, actually--Metallic Mint and Blueberry. As water is added, they will continue to blend and create some really gorgeous hints of purples, blues and even brown!

Next, I added some of my new SU! gold thread and heat embossed it, which made it stick to the heart with an awesomeness I didn't even expect! Then I added some Gold Mica Flakes and turquoise beads to the front, and of course, had to add some of my fabulous charms from a deconstructed necklace I've had forever and a day, lol. The Eiffel Tower, pearl, emerald, fleur de lis and golden "Oui" are all beautiful symbols of France and I love how they come together with this piece. Finally, I dipped around the heart a layer of Platinum crushed glitter glass and then a lighter layer of black micro beads. Attach a chain and you have one lovely statement piece!
